Why We Built EVORA Analytics and What It Means for Our Clients

Too much data, not enough clarity. That’s the tension most of our clients live with right now.

They’ve invested in platforms, reports, consultants, frameworks. They’re still stuck stitching together Excel models, PDF packs and portal exports every time an investor asks a slightly different question about risk, performance, or progress against targets.

EVORA Analytics was built to break that pattern – not by replacing what already works, but by making the data and expertise our clients already have far more usable.

Where the Idea Started: From Inbox Attachments to Live Insight

The idea for EVORA Analytics didn’t start in the product team. It started in consulting.

On the one hand we have an industry that moves fast and where new requests appear constantly. On the other, our greatest strength in responding to that pace has always been our people. A new investor might ask for an SFDR breakdown that shows the data in a new way. A bank might want physical climate risk results from a specific provider. A portfolio team might need accountability views by property manager rather than by geography. The consulting team could model it, test it and explain it.

But the way those insights reached clients lagged. They arrived as email attachments – an 80-page slide deck here, a heavy net zero model there. Someone had to save it into a folder, remember which version was which, and email back if anything changed.

We could see that this was a limitation for our clients’ progress. They wanted the immediacy of a software experience, but some needs change faster than any platform should. That’s where our consultants naturally can move quicker,” Tom Powell, Product Manager at EVORA, explains.

We tried approaching the challenge the usual SaaS way – expand the platform, build features, push releases. But some needs shift faster than a roadmap can. We realised we were asking software to take on work that our people already excel at through individual delivery.

EVORA Analytics started as a different answer to the same problem.

Built for Edge Cases: A Tool That Fits Your Reality

On paper, most investors look similar. In practice, no one is “typical”.

Sustainability varies widely. Standards differ, data needs differ, investor expectations differ. Real estate is just as mixed; every portfolio has its own blend of assets, structures, scenarios and responsibilities. Any given edge case might apply to only 5% of clients – but every client is in one of those edge cases.

Think of assets where one floor is a data centre or industrial process. The reporting standard allows you to exclude that specific unit’s energy because it’saccounted for elsewhere, but you still need to show what’s been excluded. Or portfolios where property managers cut across funds in ways that don’t map to geography or sector, so you need to slice by management responsibility as well as by fund structure.

No software platform should reinvent itself for every unique situation. In a product roadmap, those requests sit alongside dozens of others competing for priority – which naturally takes longer than a consultant designing a one-off view.

EVORA Analytics takes another approach. Instead of asking software to anticipate every possible structure, it gives our analysts and consultants a way to build the right views – and then wraps those views in a controlled, enterprise-grade experience.

Our humans do the bit that they’re excellent at, and software does the bit that it’s excellent at – providing a unified, clean, controlled experience of working with the analytics,” says Tom Powell.

For clients, that means fewer compromises and fewer “close enough” solutions – just analytics that match how risk, value and responsibilities are organised in real life.

Built by People Who Understand the Industry: Standard Dashboards You Can Adapt

We talk about EVORA Analytics as flexible and adaptable, but that’s only part of the story. What really matters is who’s behind the analytics. Every view in EVORA Analytics is shaped and published by people who understand the industry and understand your portfolio.

We’ve already developed a library of standard reporting views shaped by years of advisory and reporting work. That includes carbon and energy tracking, net zero pathways, GRESB-related views, SFDR-oriented breakdowns, portfolio benchmarking and more. These give clients a fast, reliable starting point.

Where flexibility comes in is how those views can be tuned by people who already know your assets, your obligations and how your investors ask questions. The same consultants and analysts who support you day to day are the ones advising how a dashboard should be structured, what should be shown first and what needs closer attention.

Our clients have always valued that familiarity – the sense that the person working on their portfolio understands the specific way they operate. EVORA Analytics keeps that relationship in the loop. Even when you’re using standard dashboards, the judgement behind what’s shown – and why – comes from someone who knows your business and can adjust what you see as your needs shift.

Having started his career in consulting, Tom Powell recognises the gap EVORA Analytics fills:

The more I reflected on what we’d built here, the more I realised it was kind of just what I wished I had when I was a consultant – a platform that takes the ceiling off what I can make and deliver to my clients”, he explains.

From One-Off Reports to an Ongoing Service

Investor expectations shift. Strategies evolve. You shouldn’t need to restart the reporting process every time.

With EVORA Analytics, everything you’ve already invested in — the data, the strategy, the targets – becomes the base you can grow from.

It frees teams from the hours lost to hunting for files, reworking reports, and reformatting data. It frees up capacity to focus on decisions that protect and grow asset value – while keeping investors and lenders confident in what they’re seeing.

Turn your sustainability data into action and return on investment – your data, your way.
