Monitoring and Targeting Programme Saves Hines £18k and 122 tCO2e in Just 6 Months

“The system allows us to interrogate the finer detail of our energy consumption, identify periods of high or unusual usage trends, ask the right questions and make the necessary changes to achieve our efficiency savings.”

The Challenge

The Centre Livingston is Scotland’s second largest shopping centre covering over 1 million square foot.

The Centre is split into three zones, each with their own unique challenges, requiring a bespoke approach to optimise energy usage. EVORA Global was tasked with identifying energy saving opportunities throughout the site, whilst maintaining a comfortable environment for tenants and the general public.

Our Approach

A Monitoring and Targeting (M&T) programme was deployed, covering detailed analysis of half-hourly (interval) data across five electricity and four gas meters. Using the M&T software platform with automated data feeds and powerful analytic tools, such as overlays and modelling, EVORA Global identified unusual trends and opportunities in the energy usage profiles. This was coupled with monthly reviews with The Centre management team to agree actions and track progress.

Key Outcomes

In the 6 months that EVORA Global has been implementing a M&T programme at The Centre Livingston, electricity consumption has reduced by 11%, resulting in a financial saving of £18k and a reduction in carbon emissions of over 122 tonnes.

• Electricity consumption has reduced by 11%

• Financial saving of £18k

• Reduction in carbon emissions of over 122 tonnes

This has been achieved through innovative operational changes, including consolidation of cleaning schedules, and technological improvements, such as LED upgrades.

EVORA Global is continuing to work with the site team to further optimise their equipment and operations and  it is expected that additional savings will be achieved.
