We are seeking a highly motivated and talented individual to fill the role of Sustainability Consultant (environmental design specialist) to support our growing sustainability consultancy team. This position offers a very exciting opportunity to help high profile real asset companies meet their decarbonisation targets and deliver innovative net zero design solutions across European property portfolios. Whilst the role has a focus on the design of sustainable buildings, an understanding of whole building lifecycle processes and opportunities is vital for our clients. Core Responsibilities and Skills Required
Core Responsibilities
The core responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Environmental Design and Building Performance
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary client teams and provide leadership to implement change based on best in class analysis and real world application experience.
- Utilise LCA software for undertaking whole life carbon analysis in line with industry best practice and coordinate EVORA expertise to deliver whole life net zero design strategies.
- Utilise energy simulation software for building optimisation and analysis such as IES-VE and EnergyPlus.
- Ability to provide net zero carbon strategy advice to individual buildings / projects, whilst aligning with and optimising broader net zero portfolio level strategies.
- Apply in-depth understanding of advanced commercial HVAC systems and building fabric to evaluate options, simulate performance, develop recommendations, prepare financial analyses, and present to clients.
- Maintain and apply an excellent knowledge of building codes and industry best practice guidance.
- Confidently and clearly author technically accurate and understandable outputs and be able to present and discuss with client teams as well as project teams.
- Ability to input to wider sustainability design advice, setting core principles across topics based on best practice innovation.
- Support the wider Building Optimisation service line as required, including:
- planning, completion and write-up of technical building level energy audits.
- Provision of monitoring and tracking of energy usage to assist EVORA clients in the management of post-audit improvement management programmes
- Ability to develop project management skills, comfortable liaising with clients, working to budgets, programme, resourcing, tracking deliverables, and producing work to meet deadlines.
Leadership
- Ability to work with and manage other members of the team to support delivery of above responsibilities and to work on project delivery with minimal supervision.
- Contribute to thought leadership by maintaining leading edge knowledge of sustainability innovation, authoring blog posts, delivering presentations, and identifying opportunities for application in projects.
- Initiative to work independently, with the self-motivation and enthusiasm to learn and develop new skills and expertise.
Essential Skills
The right candidate must have the following essential qualifications and skills:
- Engineering or architecture degree with relevant Masters degree.
- Professional engineering affiliation such as CIBSE, Low Carbon Consultant, ASHRAE etc.
- Experience of IES-VE software and application in UK and European market.
- Embodied carbon modelling / analysis experience e.g. using One Click LCA
- Depth of technical knowledge of sustainability issues and application to real estate.
- Understanding of current and forthcoming energy market, legislation and drivers within UK and Europe.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and technical aptitude.
- Self-starter with proven ability to manage own time to deliver best in class service to clients.
Desirable Skills & Requirements
The right candidate will have the additional preferable skills:
- CEng chartership
- Net-Zero Auditing experience
- Python programming experience
- Pan-European delivery experience
- ESOS Lead Assessor
- BREEAM Assessor
- Fluency in European languages including French, Italian, German
