We are seeking a highly motivated and talented individual to fill the role of Sustainability Consultant (Climate Resilience) to support our growing climate resilience team. Our in-house software SIERA, is the data engine which powers our services, and over the course of 2021 will deliver a unique suite of climate risk services to the market.

Core Responsibilities and Skills Required

Core Responsibilities

The core responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Research into market trends and evolving industry best practice relating to climate change resilience.
  • Engagement with clients and other external parties (e.g. heads of sustainability, asset managers, property and facilities management teams).
  • Support development of organisational climate change strategies using frameworks such as the Taskforce on Climate Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD).
  • Implementation of climate strategy for clients, e.g. policy and process development; delivery of training to client senior management teams on climate related topics, such as net zero, TCFD, science-based targets.
  • Support development of marketing collateral and internal training / briefing materials relating to climate change resilience.
  • Support development of net zero strategies for clients through investment lifecycle.
  • Support development of our sustainability management software modules related to climate risk and net zero.
  • Support team management, including Junior Consultants.
  • Support sustainability disclosure / reporting (e.g. GRESB, INREV, EPRA, UNPRI, TCFD).
  • Support industry engagement and thought leadership (e.g. attending conferences etc).

Essential Skills

The right candidate must have the following essential skills:

  • A passion for furthering the sustainability agenda
  • Expertise in climate resilience and TCFD reporting
  • Knowledge of climate change risks and opportunities as related to investor expectations, ESG reports and other voluntary commitments, preferably in real estate investing, with a regional focus on Europe and UK.
  • Understand the role of climate data in assessing risk and exposure to physical climate hazards and assessing transition risks toward a low-carbon economy.
  • Experience of project management
  • Highly articulate and numerate
  • Strong people skills
  • Strong IT skills
  • Degree or Masters in related subject (e.g. engineering, architecture, economics, finance, environmental studies, geography)
  • Fluent English

Desirable Skills & Requirements

The right candidate may have the additional preferable skills:

  • Solid understanding of the investment management industry, preferably real estate investment management and risk management processes.
  • Understanding of risk management processes and how they need to evolve to incorporate climate change risk and resilience.
  • Knowledge of carbon reduction frameworks and standards, such as SBT, WRI GHG protocol
  • Membership of an appropriate and recognised professional body (e.g. IEMA Practitioner Membership)
  • An additional European language
